| Brief History about HED |
 |
Today Himalayan Eco Drive has grown into the India’s premier tour operators for outdoor skills and leadership.
Based out at New Delhi, more than 8000 participants have come to HED to learn leadership and outdoor skills including backpacking, mountaineering, white water rafting, river crossing skiing artificial wall climbing, and rock climbing.
The HED’s time-tested formula is the same today as it was in 2003. Take people into the wilderness for an extended period of time, give them the right things, feed them well, and when they walk out of the mountains, they will be leaders in the wilderness and beyond.
- Since 2003, HED has around 8000 participants in skills including backpacking, mountaineering, white water rafting, river crossing skiing artificial wall climbing, and rock climbing.
- Operates in all over India, including the Rocky Mountains, jungles, rivers and Valleys.
- HED participants range in age from 10 to 70 and come from all walks of life, from all states.
- HED focus on leadership and outdoor skills. The goal of every HED trek is to give students the skills to do their own expeditions in the backcountry.
- Leadership skills learned at HED are applicable to life at work, school and home, including problem solving, solid judgment, communication skills, confidence, conflict resolution, and motivating others.
- Wilderness Ethics are an important part of the HED programs. People learn about the natural history, ecology, and wildlife in the areas where they travel, as well as land management topics.
- HED is a partner of the national Leave No Trace program, and writes the entire curriculum and provides training for land managers, outdoor leaders and others.
