Fed by Glacier ice and pure snow melt, the river Pabbar rises in the Chanshal Range – just south of Kinnaur. It finally drains in the tons at Tiuni, like countless branches reaches out of valleys and down mountain sides, several side streams like the Andhra, Pejore and Shikri, pour their wash into Pabbar. Toasted for its trout fish, untrodden trekking paths and virgin skiing slopes, the Pabbar Valley remains to be discovered by the wandering tribe.
The countryside in the valley is agricultural with well-laid apple orchards on the arable mountain slopes.
The deep forests of cedar and oak, the heights crowned with snow, the magic of apple country, wooden houses adorned with fascinating craftsmanship and the tall temples that are the nerve centers of the religious and cultural life of the inhabitants.
